President and Founder Colonel Michael J. Barron retired from the Army in 2010, after a 30-year career as an infantry officer and political military strategist. A decorated combat veteran of Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, his last active duty assignment was as the Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Army. Prior to that, he served on the Joint Chiefs of Staff as the Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for Legislative Affairs.  Earlier in his career, he served as an instructor at the United States Military Academy at West Point and later was a Military Congressional Fellow for the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Newt Gingrich. 

Since retiring from active duty, he has served as an executive with the Boeing Company, as Director of Government Affairs and Director of International Operations and Policy.  He has also served as Director of Government Relations for the Military Officers Association of America; and most recently with the Veterans Administration as the Senior Advisor to the Undersecretary for Health, Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs.

He holds advanced degrees from Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, the City University of New York and the United States Army War College and has completed advance studies at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and is a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration.
